You will need to produce information on the following subjects and print it for your folder (industry section)

· What are the major commercial companies in each Industry? (print copies for your folder)

BBC
Channel 4

i.e. Film (runner) to Film (Camera Person) to Film (Producer) to Film (Director)

Actress/actor, Camera person, Producer, Stunt man, Script writer, Singer, Dancer, Someone who controls all the sound, Lighting, Extra.

· What type of skills would you need, to apply for a job in each of your chosen industries?

You have to be able to take a story on paper (The script) and make it into a movie. If your just starting out, odds are, your gone be doing a lot of jobs (i.e. Operating the camera, editing the footage, writing scripts) but if you get collaborators around with you, you'll be able to really on them to help you make your film.
Also, some nice skills to have are.
- Technical understanding of Cameras/Cinematography
- Communication skill (So you can tell others (actors) what you want, and how you want it
- Commitment. If you ever want your movie to be finished, you have to completely committed to it getting done...or it won't
Knowledge in visual composition, writing, technical application, computers, and film in general. Personal skills needed are, organized, decisive, and management skills, because when a production is actually filmed, it is like an assembly-line of fragmented scenes all shot on a tight time schedule.
A director needs to be organized, decisive, and have management skills because when a production is filmed, it is a series of fragmented scenes shot out of order and on a tight time schedule. A director is in charge of this assembly line, and in most cases answers to the producer.
While earning your degree you can also work in local television which will give you experience, connections, and help pay the bills. Film and television are very related to each other.
Directors usually have worked their way up doing physical production work.
A degree in media, journalism or communications is very helpful.

4. Write up your notes into three mini reports (min 150 words). Each report should contain details of the following.

· Historical Origins and developments within the industry
Preceding film by thousands of years, plays and dances had elements common to film: scripts, sets, costumes, production, direction, actors, audiences, storyboards, and scores. Much terminology later used in film theory and criticism applied, such as mise en scene (roughly, the entire visual picture at any one time). Moving visual and aural images were not recorded for replaying as in film.
The camera obscura was pioneered by Alhazen in his Book of Optics (1020), and later near the year 1600, it was perfected by Giambattista della Porta. Light is inverted through a small hole or lens from outside, and projected onto a surface or screen, creating a moving image, but it is not preserved in a recording.
In the 1860s, mechanisms for producing two-dimensional drawings in motion were demonstrated with devices such as the zoetrope, mutoscope and praxinoscope. These machines were outgrowths of simple optical devices (such as magic lanterns) and would display sequences of still pictures at sufficient speed for the images on the pictures to appear to be moving, a phenomenon called persistence of vision. Naturally the images needed to be carefully designed to achieve the desired effect, and the underlying principle became the basis for the development of film animation.

· Key companies or industry leaders (a range of examples)

· How individuals can get into the industry, i.e. Qualifications needed etc.
Anyone can get into the film industry but it is very conpetivie.

You can get qualifications by going to university or college and studying Film and T.V.

· Your own interest and evaluation of your chosen industry

I am very interested in film. The film industry is a very hard a conpetivie industry to get into. There is many ways around it. You could apply yourself to a Producation company such as the BBC as a coffee girl in this industry and T.V. industry the saying usually is " Its not what you know its who you know"
The reason i'm interested in film is because i want my furture career to be an actress/singer.
I really enjoy being on the stage and its a great feel performing.
